Irvin D. Yalom, MD
I’m Donnisha Hébert, a National Certified Counselor and Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in Maryland and Texas, committed to helping individuals navigate life’s challenges with compassion. Born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, I completed my studies in Psychology and Women’s Studies at Xavier University of Louisiana. I earned my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology in Washington, D.C.
Throughout my career, I have focused on supporting children, unhoused adolescents, and families in various capacities. I’ve held roles as a Camp Counselor, Exhibit Facilitator, After School Program Facilitator, Lead Residential Staff, and Community Developer, working in settings such as schools, children’s museums, and shelters for both families and unhoused youth. I previously provided therapy to students in schools and now offer telehealth services to adolescents, adults, families, groups and couples. My training in trauma-informed care, depression and anxiety management, and various specialized therapeutic modalities shapes my approach to therapy. This experience and insight allows me to provide compassionate, evidence-based care tailored to each individual's unique needs.
I also enjoy creating psychoeducational resources to support the therapeutic process for my clients and to enhance mental health awareness for the general public.
I have been a licensed therapist since 2019 and I believe that therapy is a deeply personal journey. My goal is to create a safe, open, and non-judgmental space where you can explore your most important goals and gain insight into who you are, and where you are, mentally and emotionally. My role is meeting you where you are, working collaboratively, and helping you to connect with your values so you navigate life's complexities with greater clarity and purpose.
My therapeutic approach is rooted in an Existential Humanistic framework, which focuses on exploring your unique experiences, personal responsibility, and the search for meaning in life. While Existential Humanistic principles guide my practice, I also incorporate an eclectic counseling style that draws aspects from various evidence-based therapeutic approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, solution-focused techniques, and trauma-informed care. This allows me to tailor my approach to your specific needs and goals, ensuring that the therapy process is aligned with your personal journey.
I utilize mindfulness, motivation techniques, exposure and stress reduction strategies to support you in growing, managing anxiety, depression, relationship issues, life transitions, and other mental health challenges. By integrating these approaches, I aim to empower you to make meaningful changes, develop resilience, and move forward with confidence. Therapy with me is collaborative, compassionate, and open-minded. It's designed to help you understand yourself more deeply.
